Yummy Cupcake Fabric!

Yummy cupcake fabric! My niece is turning 8 years old so I thought I would try my hand at a child's apron. I think I will attempt making my own bias tape to trim it up somehow. Has anybody done this before? The inspiration for this apron comes from Randi's blog at
I have to say... Check out her tutorial here for this darling girls garden party apron. I only have one metre of fabric so this is where I really have to plan where I am going to use it and how much to use - that's the problem I have with little amounts of gorgeous fabrics. I am always wondering how to stretch it as far as I can. I tend to buy less costly fabrics for linings and backings (stripes, solids etc.) I also added a picture of a cookbook called "Finally...Food I Can Eat!" by Shirley Plant. All the recipes are free of dairy, wheat, yeast, corn, sugar, eggs, soy, nuts, nightshades and/or gluten! Quite a list!
We don't have any allergies but the recipes are easy, healthy and tasty. I have tried the date and carob icing and it is amazing on brownies.

  1. Ilove the fabric and I know what you mean about wanting to stretch out limited quantities of fabric. Bitter Betty has some good Utube tutorials about bias tape. Do you have the special bias tape presser foot for your machine? I often see Singer attachments at thrift store and they would probably be very reasonable on ebay. I might need to borrow that cookbook. I also have the bias tape makers that make the folds and you set it with your iron.

  2. That fabric is Darling!! Thanks for the link for the apron tutorial. I am quite the novice when it comes to sewing and lots of pictures make the world of difference for me.

I'll have to look for that cookbook! My son is gluten free, casein (the protein in dairy) free, soy free, msg, dye, preservative and all that nasty stuff free and extremely low sugar. Sooooooo.....I'm always looking for new ways to give a kidlet what a kidlet would like to eat and still maintain his neccessary food restrictions. Thanks!
