Some W.I.P.

I have been busy completing and designing some sewing projects and would like to share them with you. Above is a cute little gnome or raindrop as my daughter calls him made with some gorgeous natural linen fabric. I am in the process of designing a doll using the linen...pictures coming soon!
Above is a sneak peak of a bag I am designing for myself to use. It's been ages since I have made something for myself so this should be fun..
A completed ladybug zipper case...and below some bibs in progress made from upcycled fabric
And finally a completed zipper case...check out the little birdie in the top right hand corner..love how he is just perched on a garland of white dots...
Hope everyone has a great weekend! I am off to Westfest tonight to enjoy some live music...babysitter is booked so should be fun. Ciao!

A Patchwork Pouch

Well, I finished a patchwork zipper pouch. I didn't think to compensate for the seam allowance in each fabric piece so I ended up adding another fabric on the bottom and one little strip on the side to go with my pattern (let's just call this a "creative" mistake). I like how it ended up...this opens a whole new world for me! All the fabric choices out there! I was thinking of making some in organic cotton too however price is an issue and it's hard to find local sources. The fabric used in this pouch is from the "Manzanita" (evergreen shrub) collection by Joel Dewberry. Pop on over to Katie Jean who inspired me at See Katie Sew. She is running a fabulous giveaway to celebrate her birthday and you have until April 27th to enter...don't wait too long! Thanks again Katie!

Black & White & Red

I was inspired to sew a patchwork zipper pouch after looking at Katie Jean's blog here. Her pencil pouches are so cute! I always thought patchwork was just way beyond me...it always looks so complicated with all those little scraps of material. I am going to start small with four fabrics and try and wrap my little brain around how to go about this! It can't be that complicated - right? My little mexican couple kind of inspired the color theme...hmmm she looks a little angry about it - weird!

The Seventies'

I love seventies retro fabrics or colors which remind me of that era so...had to make these.

Mod Girl little pouch

I have to say this fabric was really hard to cut into, I love it so much...modish girls going about their business..too cute! This is another upcycled project with enough leftover for one more zipper pouch.

Another zippy pouch

I really like how this pouch turned out. It is made from upcycled fabric found by my mother at one of my favorite stores, VV...it's gone to a new home, but fortunately I have lots of leftover fabric to make more of this style. I love the pattern on it.

Love this fabric, makes me think of spring on such a grey and gloomy day.

Just like I thought...I love making these zipper pouches..more will be coming soon...
